When all decisions/emotions/attractions/thoughts etc. originate form the brain, why do people use “heart” in such contexts?

We don’t feel our brain having reactions to situations, but we know when our heart is pounding. That was probably enough for most people or poetic prose.

Kinda like “butterflies in your stomach”. It’s actually your adrenal glands, sitting by your kidneys, firing off a Salvo into your bloodstream. People didn’t know that for a long time, so it sure feels like emotions get dictated in the torso.
