Why is the human heart associated with love?

I “heart” you, I love you with all my heart, but generally speaking they are two different things, why do we connect them?

It beats faster or harder when you are anxious or nervous. Ie like when you see a beautiful person and struggle to talk to them. Same for if they reject you or hurt you. Your chest may feel hurting physically
