There is no reason for it to have a curvature. If you put two pingpong balls under the sink they would make the shape of the optic nerve.

I’d love to answer this question but I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking -> “the curvature of a liquid going through a ball” ?
They’re two different phenomenae. One is an evolutionary adaptation, and the other is gravity acting on something moving to the side. There is no reason “why” they look like each other. Other than that falling things that move look like they curve to the ground, and that the optic nerve didn’t evolve in a perfectly straight line, a curve is the only other option.
