The Protests in Hong Kong at the moment have gained enormeous traction, but no authorities in the west seemed to have commented, why is that?

You are a 5 year old at the playground. You see a 10 year old bullying his little brother. You can jump in and try to protect the little guy, but you may take a few punches from the big guy or worse. Will you jump in?

Some kid may jump in. Some may yell at the 10 year old to stop. Some may keep their heads down and ignore the whole thing. Some may call adults.

The kids who jump in tend to be stronger than the ten year old and/or have so much conviction they must intervene.

Well, I’m a westerner, and I support the riots. What else would you like me to do?
