Why is there a statue of Abraham Lincoln in Mexico?

I’m watching something filmed in Mexico and there’s a brief scene in Tijuana (I think) that shows an Abraham Lincoln statue.

I’m definitely not a history buff or anything, so I’m curious as to why it’s there.

In 1861, during Lincoln’s presidency, France attempted to invade Mexico and seize control of the country. The US provided a significant amount of war material to the Mexican government to help them drive out the French.
