Why is there no cure for nerve pain?

Tylenol helps a headache, Midol relieves cramps, Sudafed clears congestion.. why does nerve pain have to be chronic?

There are certain instances where they burn the nerve to stop the pain but it is rarely used as nerves are so interconnected with other nerves that control part of your body. I saw one where an old man got a nerve severed in his leg that wouldn’t do any other damage and he received immediate relief. I get acupuncture and it helps a good amount but it takes a skilled acupuncturist and takes weeks for it to work.

Something is probably causing it. I’d start there?

There are medications that mimic the “stop” signal for your nerves (gabapentin/pregabalin etc). The problem is they can’t be focused on just the problem nerve, so you have to deal with side effects like drowsiness, sluggishness etc ..balancing quality of life against improvement of pain is hard

Those aren’t cures, they treat symptoms.

Gabapentin is similarly prescribed for nerve pain/neuropathy.
