Why is there not a definate verdict about the superconductivity of LK-99 yet?

OR in other words: Why isnt it as easy as just applying a current to the object and see if it gets hotter?

If there is resistance its not a SC, if there isnt it is. So why is there so much ambiguity?

Answer: Because the paper was leaked to arXiv by a rogue scientist who was fired from the team 4 months ago. He published it before the team could hone the methodology and replicability of the process of making LK-99.

Which means, other teams of scientists had to work with preliminary methodology that was incomplete and inefficient (word is that it’s around 10% successful as of now). Within hours of publication to arXiv, he team had no choice but to post their own study within hours of the leak to avoid losing credit to their findings.
