Why is there not a definate verdict about the superconductivity of LK-99 yet?

OR in other words: Why isnt it as easy as just applying a current to the object and see if it gets hotter?

If there is resistance its not a SC, if there isnt it is. So why is there so much ambiguity?

Word of the discovery has only been out for a few days. It takes months/years for this kind of thing to be validated and verified. It’s not enough to take the samples provided by the workgroup and test for resistance. You have to test the composition of the conductor. You have to examine the manufacturing process. Then you have to duplicate it all, and then you test to validate that it’s a working superconductor.

These things take time.
