Why Magnets don’t equal Infinite Energy

Why we can’t attach some magnets onto a turbine and set them up to repel each other, causing the turbine to spin and producing energy.

Is it just not efficient? Or is there something else at play that would prevent this from working?

Because the turbine wouldn’t spin at all. Whatever setup you come up with you will always run into the same issue: the magnets have two sides and if you set them up so that they repel each other, when the turbine spins they will eventually be in the opposite configuration (attracting eachother). This creates a pendulum-like motion and just like a pendulum, the turbine will eventually stop spinning due to friction.
