Why partially sitting/lying while having spins reduces them?

So I read the “Why puking gives us so much relief after feeling sick and nauseous?” And wanted to ask:
If you are drunk and have spins, lying flat makes the spins more intense to the point you puke. But somehow this doesn’t happen when you’re lying and you put your feet on the ground. I always thought it makes the brain think that it is not lying horizontally but rather sitting.

Is there any science behind this?

The spins is caused by your ears and eyes disagreeing about what way is up. But yes, your brain does use every bit of information available, including when your feet are on the ground. Lying down means you’re not working to keep your head still and upright. Any little bit of movement will confuse your ears and eyes more. Lying down keeps everything more still, which is good.

But it also means you’re losing sight of the horizon and any other reference for your eyes, which is confusing for your brain. Your ears are flipping out and you’re feeling like you’re spinning but you’re just looking at a blank ceiling so your brain can’t figure out wtf is going on with your ears.

Planting your feet gives your brain an anchor. Your ears are still freaking out but your feet don’t feel like they’re moving so… there’s a data point to work from to figure out what the ears are doing.
