why some places are more prone to natural disasters then other places

The surface of the earth is not stable. Underneath the ground, there are large chunks of matter called tectonic plates. They slowly move. Where they collide, earthquakes may occur. Some places are located in the usual paths of strong winds or nearby the rivers or other estuaries prone to flooding.
