Why storage takes so long to calculate.

Whenever I try to check the storage of my phone, it takes minutes to load. This has occurred on every device I’ve owned. Why does it take so long when other processes take only seconds?

Basically, your device is rechecking the integrity of your storage and removing any wasted space due to fragments.

There are other ways to find available storage without this clean up process, but they are less accurate approximations.
