We dont have enough good algorithms or this is about physical limits?

I work in movie production where we use a lot of uncompressed or lossless compression. The files sizes are huge. You quickly run into disk space, network speed and video ram limitations that have very expensive solutions. Unless you manipulate the data there is no visual benefit to lossless storage.
