Why was milk delivered to your house in the 90s/early 2000s?

I grew up in the 80s in NYC. No one I knew got milk delivered to their homes. We all went to the market and bought the cartons. I remember seeing some old sitcoms like The Brady Bunch or something like that where they got glass bottled milk delivered to them by a milk man and I thought that was wild.
