The number of bits is basically a limit to how high the computer can count with one number. And the *vast* majority of computer work doesn’t need more yet.

* 32 bit is just over 2 billion(“9 zeros”)

* 64 bit is over 18 quintillion(“18 zeros”)

* 128 bit is 340 undecillion(“36 zeros”)
