why while sleeping during roadtrips one is able to wake up a few turns before arriving to the destination/home?

You get used to the feel of the roads near your house. Even when you are asleep, you can feel the acceleration every time you turn, and you can feel a little bit of information about the texture of the road below you. These 2 things can give you a pretty good amount of information. It is pretty common for pets that ride in the car a lot to also get excited near their destination because they also feel and remember the road.
