Why will there be airbubbles in the water when you drop something in it?

Water likes to stick to itself, and wet other things. That property slows the rate at which it can get out of the way. If you drop something in that’s moving fast, the water can get out of the way only by slowing the object down. The water can’t flow back fast enough to fill every little gap. The result is bubbles.
