Why would rumors about Haitian immigrants promote bomb threats in Springfield, OH?

So, I know about the rumors (cats, dogs, &c.) and I’ve heard about several bomb threats to schools, purportedly from non-US sources.

I don’t understand the connection. Last I checked, no-one was rushing to defend Haiti/Hatians. Who’s behind these threats and why?

Honestly asking: not trying to encourage political mud-slinging.

Because the goal of these accusations/rumors about Haitians are intended to rile up tensions and turn people against each other. Once notable political figures start doing that sort of thing, they’re basically inviting the worst elements of our society to indulge in their racists fantasies.

There are people out there who honestly believe that large scale civil unrest based upon racial tensions is not only inevitable, but actually desirable. They want it to happen, and are willing to try to accelerate it.

And then there’s foreign actors of various stripes who overall feel that they’ll benefit from the US having more domestic/internal strife because they believe it will weaken the US’ ability to act on the international stage. So we’ve got some foreign governments/groups doing what they can to further stoke these tensions.
