WANT TO or NEED TO?
The reasons why you would NEED TO take a suppository are:
1. No work required on your part, infants, confused, immobile patients, people unable or unwilling to swallow etc. can get suppositories.
2. Avoiding the “First pass effect”,if you swallow medicine it goes through the digestion process, stomach acid, digestive enzymes, the liver may mess with the medicine, in the butt it goes straight into the blood.
3. You can’t puke up a suppository. If you are nauseous, put the medicine in the other end.
4. Topical effects. Maybe you have problems in your butt, so put the medicine in your butt.
