I recently was able to upgrade my AC wifi card to an AX210 card and i can confirm that Wifi 6 is working fine.

Because it is the chip that is responsible for all of the logic and communication that is occurring. The antennas are just a thin straight piece of metal to pick up the RF signals and relay them to something for processing. Newer processor improved speeds, I did this exact same thing with my Dell laptop upgrading it from an AC chip to an AX chip.
