with the advent of drones and UAV, why are land based drones are not yet in widespread use?

Flying is cheap with a drone and WAY BETTER. Nothing to HIT. No root to get stuck on, no 6 inch depression in the mud. Flying is mostly a pain in the ass because you have to keep a human pilot alive and able to use the craft, without that shit, a flying drone is a definitive war winning weapon.
A terrestrial drone can’t unfuck itself once it experiences minor inconvenience, and think about the actual constant course correction you have to do when you do something like walking. It also can’t really escape or evade, and it’s bound to be much slower.
Terrestrial drones are primarily used for mine laying, clearing, or just blowing shit up. Explosive RC cars will always stay in vogue.
