Beta Weight in Statistical Analysis

I am desperately trying to understand what a beta weight is. I am in grad school, and I am taking an R&D course that does NOT have statistics as a pre-req… wtf, right? Anyway, I need to understand what this term means, but I am finding most definitions online to be way over my head… considering I have not taken stats in 10 years. Any help you have would be most greatly appreciated.

if i understand correct, it is a measure of total effect of the predictor variables. it usually tell you how much the other variable increase when you increase one. for example y = beta*x

means one unit of increase of x will result in beta*x increase of x. this could help u [https://www.statisticshowto.datasciencecentral.com/beta-weight/](https://www.statisticshowto.datasciencecentral.com/beta-weight/)
let me know you need further help!
