So what you’re actually asking is how does an electric Motor work?

There’s a rotor and a stator, as the names already give away, the rotor rotates and the stator remains static. The motor now has one permanent magent and one electromagnet, set into the rotor and stator. The electric magnet is set so that it opposes the permanent magnets field, and they turn away creating the rotation. Now either through AC or carbon brushes the electromagnet is set so that it changes it’s polarity once every half rotation, so after it pushes itself away from the permanent magent, it switches polarity so it suddenly becomes repelled again and continuous turning

Electric motors have coils of wire in them with current flowing through them. That makes a magnetic field and magnets can be attracted to or repelled by other magnets. The rotating part and the stationary part of the motor have magnetic fields which cause the rotating part to move in one direction.

You have seen the magnets? They can either push or pull each other. Inside the fan there is a motor. The motor have a part, covered with magnets that are located on rotated part the fan. Outside of this part there is a number of electromagnets, they become magnetic when electricity is applied. So you turn on the fan, and one magnets are pushing/attracting the other.

There are many engineering solutions for this, but that is the main principle afaik.

Wow. So ignore the table fan and let us just talk about electrical motors in the most broad sense. Also the fan of your question is an AC motor (alternating current,) it is easier to start with a DC motor (direct current.)

There are three important things that Michael Faraday discovered about electricity.

1. If you put electricity through a wire, the electricity flows avd it generates a magnetic field.
2. If you take a wire and put it into a magnetic field and move it, it cause electricity to flow through the wire.
3. If a wire is in a magnetic field and you put electricity through the wire, it will move.

Now picture some permanent magnets, the kind you might have played with as a kid. Make a circle of them. Put a bundle of wires wrapped around a shaft. Sort of like a car axial.
When electricity goes into the bundle of wires inside the circle of magnets it causes the axial to rotate.

That is the basis of an electric motor.

If on the other hand you spin the axial by some means, you have the basis of a generator.

The first device is like the starter in your car. The second is like the generator that used to be in cars (similar to the modern alternator.)

This should lead to a logical next question.. Why does this all happen? The answer to that is a whole other thing. Look up the Faraday electrical phenomenon. It might be too complex for you depending on your background.
