Suppose you eat 100 calories of meat. Between 25-35 calories will burned by your digestive system in order to process the food. Your net calories=75-65.

This concept is called the thermic effect of food.

Basically, you can eat bigger portions of food if you incorporate protein in your meal. The larger portions keep you fuller longer. This prevents some of the sudden binge eating that many dieters succumb to.

By reducing the amount of calories from carbs. The more protein you eat, the less appetite you’re gonna have for carbs.
