Here is the reply of one who KNOWS– you facial expression will change. Source; my wife died at home with me in attendance- thus I know where of I write

Rigor mortis doesnt set in until hours after death. Immediately after death, the muscles all relax and the facial expression would change

You know how we tell kids not to make funny faces or “it will get stuck that way”?

This is why.

Your face goes slack immediately after death, then rigor mortis sets in.

Sometimes the face falls into a weird or disturbing expression. In those cases, it’s best to tie or wrap the face into a “normal” position until it sets. That way, at least the dead look peaceful, and not like mid-snarl zombies.
