What did Thomas Müntzer believe and what impact his actions had on the church?

After Luther had sort of opened the Pandora’s box and gave people the idea that you could be a good Christian without having to listen tot the authority of the pope on everything, this opened the door for all sorts of people experimenting with all sorts of new ideas.

Müntzer was perhaps one of the most radical ones.

In modern terms we would see his more complete rejection of all traditional authority as perhaps something along the lines of socialism, but the terminology didn’t exist yet and the powers that be were very opposed to what he was preaching.

The result was peasants rebellion that was put down extremely brutally.
