What effect does Earth’s (or any planet’s) rotation speed have besides the length of the day?

It creates the Coriolis effect, which has often been ELI5’d. But it’s essentially the wind and currents being deflected by the rotation of the Earth, so they move right in the northern hemisphere and left in the southern. It pretty much allows life to exist by forcing the air currents into curved patterns and not straight north-south movements.
