When you have a bug fly into your throat and into your lungs, what happens to that bug?

Do you cough it out or what happens?

In: Biology

If a bug flies into your throat, it will probably be coughed and spit out. If it doesn’t, you will probably swallow it. Then it will be digested the same as any other kind of food.

There is a *very tiny* chance that a bug could somehow get lodged all the way in your lungs and you wouldn’t be able to cough it out. If so, you would know. It would feel like a sharp pain in your chest. If for some reason you didn’t immediately go to the doctor to get it taken out, it would decay inside your lungs, causing infection and probably pneumonia. If it was small enough and you were healthy enough, you’d eventually heal from the wound. Otherwise, you’d die.

That mental image is like, in my brain now.

a little gnat struggling agaist mucus, pressed further and further into aveoli with each breath, eventually become a infected nodule of puss, lung juice, and chitous fiber left over from the legs and wings never fully breaking down.
