Why does laying down help with nausea?

In: Biology

So, one explanation is: when you go on a roller coaster or something similar, the fluid in your inner ear gets swirled around, and since that’s how your body orients itself, you get dizzy, and that dizziness induces nausea because your body thinks that the dizziness is a result of something you ate which is affecting you negatively, making you want to throw up. So basically, negating that dizziness by laying down and letting your inner ear fluid essentially recalibrate, you alleviate the nausea.
