Why does most of the world orient their cars so the driver is in the middle of the road? It’s more dangerous in a cross-the-line head on, considering that the driver’ seat is ALWAYS occupied. It makes getting pulled over or pulling over more dangerous. And getting mail sucks!

Because that position gives you the best view of both/all lanes so you can drive as safely as possible. If cars in NA were right hand drive but also right hand lanes, you’d be able to see far less of the road, and it would basically be impossible to pass someone because you couldn’t see oncoming traffic until you were already pulled out.

Who drives their car to their mailbox? Are you that lazy? Surely it takes more effort to do that.

If you lived on a rural property you would just drive the opposite direction to it before anyone complains about having a long driveway.
