Why does studying for consecutive hours cause exhaustion even though we’re just sitting still and reading and/or listening?

Thinking consumes a LOT of energy; that’s why most animals don’t bother with it.

When you study, you are actively destroying and building up pathways in your brain.

Just like you get tired exercising your muscles, you get tired learning.

You’re brain is 2 percent of your body weight and uses up to 20 percent of the energy. Thinking is hard work

I get tired when driving for extended periods of time even if I’m fully refreshed. Possible lack of stimulation
