Why does Zelda Breath of The Wild have limitations by being produced for both WiiU and Nintendo Switch?

When a game is produced for two different systems there is a limitation imposed on the software such that it must be able to run on the least capable hardware. If for example the hardware on one system can’t handle the detail in a model that the other system can, that model isn’t going to be in the final game.

So the more broad the target platforms the more limited the games. Ever notice how PC games jump in quality every time a new crop of consoles get released? Same idea.
