Imagine your body is like a city with lots of roads, and action potentials are like messages traveling along those roads. These messages tell your muscles to move or your brain to think.

In your nerves, there are special highways called “neurons.” When your body wants to send a message, it creates a tiny electrical signal called an action potential. This signal travels down the neuron, kind of like a spark moving down a wire. Once it reaches the end, it tells the next part of your body what to do—like moving your hand or making your heart beat.

So, action potentials are just the way your body sends quick messages to get things done!
