Well, most people died well before their 80s. But just by the law of averages, some portion of the population simply never suffered an open wound infection, never got a tooth infection, never contracted various diseases, never ran afoul of the king, never annoyed a bear, never fell off a cliff, never got conscripted into some damn fool idealistic crusade, never got food and water that was TOO unhygienic. It really is that simple. Luck.
