I’ve read of Tooth painting as a whitening service but it seems to me it should also have a protective effect. Why is this not the case/not marketed as such?

The true whitening “paint” is super temporary as the product dissolves throughout the day (you wouldn’t want to seal in bacteria or decay. May of the brush-on products are actually just whiteners like peroxides, however [dental sealants](https://www.cdc.gov/oralhealth/dental_sealant_program/sealants-FAQ.htm) are definitely a thing.
