DALY and YLD for depression

Hey,

I was looking at the burden of disease figures for depression in 2017, and the report that the years lived with disability (YLDs) accounted for a high percent compared to the DALYs. Why is this the case ?

DALY=YLD+YLL (years of life lost). We’d need to see the exact study for context on that sentence, but my guess is that because there is no specific method for depression to actively kill someone (according to the “rules” for GBD), there is no value in determining YLL as YLL can be approximated at 0.
