Dark “vision” and ability to “see”.

Why does it seem like I can see my hands/arms moving in complete darkness or make out shapes of objects that I am holding in my hands that I know the shape of?

Because your senses don’t work independent and separate from each other. All the sensory information you receive helps form a complete “picture” so to speak.

Humans have more than 5 senses, and one of the senses we have is “proprioception.” Proprioception is the ability to sense our own movement. If a room is dark, you can visually fill in the blank of where your arms are and their position because of proprioception.

We can take an object we’re holding and fill in the visual blank because we can feel the weight, the size, the shape, etc.

All of our senses are linked to form one big sensory experience.
