disappearing pain after needle prick to draw blood

Why do we feel pain at the moment the needle pierces through the skin when drawing blood but you don’t feel anything after a few seconds?

Similar concept to why touching something hot for a second hurts, but doesn’t continue hurting unless you burned yourself.

The goal of the nervous system indication there was to inform you of the danger, but since the danger did not break or kill enough cells to be problematic, then the pain goes away. You felt the prick because you’re brain is letting you know “hey that’s not good. Let’s not keep doing that”.
