Do root vegetables like carrots have a fruit that grows above ground? I know they have flowers

Think of a dandelion, they flower and then the seeds develop in the same spot where the flower was, and eventually the seeds fall to the ground (or are blown away) to produce more flowers. Most vegetables operate the same way, they don’t need fruits to carry their seeds away.
