That is actually exactly how we view life. Your brain takes snapshots of the world and tricks you into viewing a fluid transpiring of events. Another fun fact is that you are incapable of seeing things when your eyes move. These snapshots are blurry and your brain literally filters them out. This is why when you look at a second hand on an analog clock, it appears to stand still for a bit longer than it should. The brain replaces the blurry images taken when your eyes move with the very next thing your eyes lock onto.
