The volume of a liquid displaced is exactly equal to the volume of the object placed in it. So you can fill up a 100ml beaker to the brim, dip your item in it, take it out, and read off the new mark. Obviously some water will overflow, so you might be left with, say, 60ml. Therefore, the volume of your object would be 100-60=40ml.
