Eli5: can someone explain the K, Cl for the cell. Is it cell channels? Is it right to call K, Cl ions?

I’m having a hard time understanding physiology studies. If someone could please explain this. Thank you.

There exist ion channels on the surface of practically every cell in your body; they’re responsible for carrying ions across a cell membrane.

Two of the most important are the sodium and potassium channels, which carry Na^+ and K^+ ions into your body’s cells.

They are called channels, and they do carry ions, so the answer to both your questions is yes.
