eli5: Carrying phones on us all the time and no adverse effects?

I mean I ‘know’ that carrying a thing in my pocket that has a sizable battery and sends mass amounts of rays through your body continuously throughout the day would ‘logically’ point to ‘more than likely’ but then in practice – there is no side effects. So does our body have a natural defense for all of the above?

What if I told you that you were to be placed in a room where your body would be subjected to collisions with billions of tiny particles moving on average 1000 mph. How much do you think that would hurt you?

Now consider that is just sitting in a normal room full of air at a normal temperature. There is a scary way to phrase even mundane conditions when you don’t really understand what is happening. In the case of “massive amounts of waves” traveling through the body it matters a lot what kind of waves you are talking about. X-rays? Not good! Radio waves? Who cares? They are different kinds of waves and interact differently with the body.
