eli5: Carrying phones on us all the time and no adverse effects?

I mean I ‘know’ that carrying a thing in my pocket that has a sizable battery and sends mass amounts of rays through your body continuously throughout the day would ‘logically’ point to ‘more than likely’ but then in practice – there is no side effects. Radio waves at the frequencies used by cellphones (and radios and formerly TV) don’t interact with biological matter. So it’s not really a question of defense, they mostly just go through you.
