Do wild animals experience static discharges like humans do? Is this only a byproduct of the industrial system?

Static electricity does not just happen. First, two separated charges must exist. A human (with shoes) can create charges in his body and floor. Then a finger touching something connected to the floor (ie a door or pet) then discharges.

If an animal’s feet are in direct (electrical) contact with ground, then how do separated charges get generated and stored? Does not happen.
