eli5: How come all Wikipedia articles display such a uniform style of writing, considering the vast number of different people actually redacting them?

Err … the [Wikipedia Manual of Style](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style)? Much of that is about consistency in layout, formatting, typesetting, terminology, etc., but it also includes sections on things like [verb tense](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Verb_tense) which have a strong impact on acceptable writing style.

Generally a consistent style is a good thing for encyclopedic content since we’re more interesting in finding things out ASAP rather than creative content.
