Eli5 How did they make Nord Stream 2 & how does it work?

Nord Stream 2 is a long pipe from Russia to Germany. Russia is planning to build it and send natural gas mined in Russia to Germany, and from there to other European countries as well. Russia’s major source of national income is selling natural gas and oil to European countries. Pipelines are the main way to deliver these products to customers.
In terms of how it works, it is fairly simple in concept. Russia mines lots of natural gas and compresses it into liquid form, stored in tanks. This liquid natural gas (LNG) can be pumped form the tanks through a long pipeline to customers. The pipeline has lots of valves, pumps, and other doohickeys, but mostly is just a really long pipe.
