Eli5 How does a square break and bake cookie come out of the oven round

Explain to me how a square raw chunk of cookie dough ends up in a round cookie when baked in the oven. This has baffled me for years.

There are two main processes at work: the melting cookie dough spreading out under gravity and the cookie being inflated by the leavening (baking powder or soda) in the dough. The melting happens because the fat in the butter or shortening in the dough melts in the heat, so the dough becomes more liquid. The leavening adds little bubbles to the cookie that make it light in texture and nice to chew. Both of these forces push the cookie dough out from the center of the cube, and the combination of the liquid texture from melting and the inflation from the leavening makes it take a circle shape as it flows. It’s really hard to keep a sharp corner shape with a liquid, just try to pour scrambled eggs mix in a square without a mold.
