What are the differences between a soft flame lighter and a jet flame lighter? How do they create the jet flame?

Jet flame lighters have a tighter nozzles which in turn create a high pressure spray. The spray has finer droplets which lets the fuel mix more with the air. This results in hotter, more thorough ignitions.

In addition to the other comment, they also use different fuel iirc. They are also terrible for lighting cigarettes (they scorch the cigarette rather than lighting it nicely).

Flame jet lighters allow the air to mix with the fuel before being ignited. This allows for combustion throughout the flame as opposed to regular flames which have no oxygen in the middle so the fuel has to wait for oxygen to come in from the sides to burn.

The flame jet lighters do this mixing by shooting a high velocity jet of gaseous fuel past some air inlets to suck the air in. This mixture then passes through a tube or mesh before finally coming out the top where it can burn.
