You have vocal cords in the larynx that vibrate when air passes through them. When you were a kid, did you ever take a balloon full of air and pull the opening taut so that it made a high pitched sound as the air came out? It works similarly to that.

Our Vocal cords vibrate in certain frequencies causing us to make noises and the mouth helps amplify them. There’s a lot more to it but thats the very very very watered down version
